Keep in mind, NOT all colonists were in favor of Independence from England in 1775. One-third of the colonists were loyalists, one-third were patriots, and one-third were neutral. This scene is probably the most historically accurate part of the movie.

Delegate to the Continental Congress, John Dickinson, argued against Independence, but then supported the Revolution when his comrades voted for it! This scene is from the HBO series, John Adams.

This is a moving dramatization of Colonel Travis' "line in the sand" speech.  It captures the sentiment even if not the actual words spoken by Travis. The movie, put out in 2004, was probably more historically accurate than the 1960 version.
